What is RoboCupJunior?

RCjr_high_L.jpg

Welcome to RoboCupJunior (RCJ), a unique project-based educational initiative designed to spark a passion for robotics in young people up to 19 years old. RCJ organizes local, regional, and international robotics events, guiding students from their first steps in robotics to the completion of complex and meaningful projects.

Whether you are a beginner or looking to refine your skills, RCJ provides the ideal platform to grow in a stimulating and challenge-rich environment.

RoboCupJunior enables young innovators to explore cutting-edge technologies in robotics and artificial intelligence through practical and challenging tasks. Designed as a pathway to the prestigious RoboCup Major leagues, the Junior leagues develop creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, inspiring the next generation of leaders and researchers.

Soccer League

RoboCupJunior soccer matches consist of two robot teams playing football against each other completely autonomously.
Each team has two autonomous robots. The match is divided into two halves.
Each half lasts 10 minutes, with a 5-minute break in between.
The robot must detect the ball on its own, move, aim, and then shoot, all without any human intervention.

Rescue League

When the environment is too dangerous or inaccessible, explorer/rescue robots are used to assist humans.

Each team must design, equip, and program a fully autonomous robot capable of:

— navigating a route (represented by a black line or a maze filled with hazards such as obstacles, bumps, hills, and debris),
— locating and identifying victims (balls, letters, colors),
— and, depending on their condition, delivering a medical kit or bringing them to safety.

The course and the victims’ locations are unknown beforehand; the robot must therefore discover them on its own.

OnStage League

Propose a 2–3 minute performance featuring autonomous robots.

The idea is simple: showcase creativity in a 2–3 minute show that uses robots and, more broadly, mechatronic devices, electronics, video projection, etc.
Each team chooses the theme of its performance, the storyline, the format, the music, the costumes... teams are free to unleash their creativity to create the best artistic and innovative mix.
Dance with the robots...
Move with them!
